03-12-09 Thur
Well, I guess this is my monthly Blog posting. Facebook is getting more attention since I found contacts with several old Mesquite PD friends and high school friends. I have been communicating with people I have not seen since graduation in 1963 or retirement in 1992. I am very glad to notice that very few need constant nursing care.
I decided Tuesday that several limbs and leaf clogs in the creek needed to be removed before the rain started. Climbed down into the bottom with my hoe and pulled a large clump of wet leaves out of the way. A cottonmouth about way-too-long wiggled out of the leaves near my feet. It suddenly dawned on me that the expected rain would move all the debris from the creek & I was, therefore, just wasting my time. The reptile went west and I went east and up the embankment. I made it out much quicker than usual, imagine that!!
Now the rain is falling. The new grass seeds and grass mulch we spread is growing fast. We have found several interesting shrubs and trees in the woods and have transplanted them to spots near the bridge. We actually have green grass growing where only brown leaves had been before. Even the end of the street has new plantings and more will be coming after the rain.

Happy Valentines Day!! I have lately been using my Facebook page more than the blog so there have been very few entries. All of you readers need to open a Facebook page - free - locate friends - send messages, photos, etc.
Nikki was in for a week. She left last Tuesday. In March she will begin working on designing the set for a movie staring Harrison Ford. Linda wants to visit Nikki on the set during the filming. I wonder why?? We do plan on driving to NY in the Spring.
Kathy and Jason and the kids apparently will be spending one or more months in NY during the Summer. Jason has been asked to head the RMS Office in New Jersey. The company wanted him to move there but agreed to let him supervise for a few months during each Summer. SO, we can soon go to NY and visit both girls!!

We drove to Houston Hobby to meet Nikki. She will be here about ten days. She could not believe how warm the weather is compared to NY.
We are going to visit the Black family in Hewitt Monday evening and return Wednesday.
Otherwise, watch the Super Bowl tomorrow evening.

01-03-09 Saturday
YEA!!! The Flatbroke Kounty Bandit River Bridge has been completed. The grand opening, as pictured below, was fantastic. Everybody was there!! George Bush was not invited and O'Bama couldn't make it - change over and all, you know.
I did take a few personal photos:
We had a quiet Christmas in Waco and a quieter New Year at home. Some neighbor set off a big rocket that woke me up at 2 minutes past midnight. That's when I realized that the new year had arrived. It looks the same as the old one and has begun with another war in the Middle East!! So what's new??

Monday 12-22-08
It is cold today! As of noon, the temp is 32 degrees F. The birds and squirrels are eating to keep warm. Linda & I are staying inside. Not much to do.
The deck of the bridge is complete! We can walk to the other side of the creek. I'm going to add rails and a small truss frame to add strength, although me and a 250 pound neighbor jumped up and down in the middle of the span and nothing broke! Ha!
Wed. we go to Hewitt and return Thursday. We'll spend Christmas Eve and Morning with Jon and his family. Then I work four days. Hope we're not busy.
